Church Membership

NeXT PROSPECTIVE MEMBERSHIP CLASS

No current Membership Class on schedule.

What Is Church Membership?

Our understanding of the nature and responsibilities of church membership is communicated in our membership covenant. Based on the popular Baptist church covenant produced by John Newton Brown in 1853, our church covenant connects us with the historical stream of confessional Baptists and gives us a reference point for our commitment to God and one another. It summarizes the New Testament's view of relational commitments within the local church:

"Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love, to remember each other in prayer, to aid each other in sickness and distress, to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; To strive for the advancement of this church, to promote its spirituality and prosperity; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrine; To contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations;

To educate our children in the Scriptures, to diligently seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; To walk circumspectly in the world, to be just in our dealings and faithful to our word; To avoid all tattling, backbiting, and sinful anger, to be slow to take offense, always ready for reconciliation, ever mindful of the admonition of our Savior to secure it without delay; To abstain from the abuse of intoxicating substances;

We further covenant that, when we move from this place:, we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God's Word."

Becoming a Member of Redeemer

I. Complete the Membership Application
If you've gotten to know our church and are interested in pursuing membership, we offer our membership application online that submits directly to our pastors. You can complete that form and we'll contact you to follow-up.

II. Attend a Redeemer 101 Class
This two-part seminar is offered regularly on Sunday mornings and in Missional Community gatherings. It will offer you a glimpse into the history, doctrine, covenant, and rhythm of our life together at Redeemer.

III. Schedule a Membership Interview
This is an opportunity for us to get to know you better, hear about your conversion and walk with Christ, as well as answer any questions you may have about Redeemer.

IV. Receive the Church's Affirmation
New member candidates will be presented to the congregation at a quarterly Members’ Meeting, following their prospective member interview, at which time the elders ask the congregation to officially vote to approve the candidates as members of Redeemer.
